Blythe Knight will attempt to land the second leg of a spring-autumn double following an unlucky run at Ayr.

Winner of the Lincoln at Redcar in March, John Quinn’s six-year-old is being aimed at the totesport Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on September 30.

He showed he was in good heart when a close third to Vicious Warrior on Saturday despite being blocked in his run at a crucial point in the mile contest.

“I think Blythe Knight will run in the Cambridgeshire. He ran a very good race on Saturday,” Quinn told At The Races. “He finished third but got stopped when he was just coming through nicely.

“He was only beaten a length and a neck. We think he would have gone really close if he hadn’t been stopped.

“He’s in good nick and he’s had summer break so he will definitely run in the Cambridgeshire.”

Blythe Knight, who has been allotted 8st 13lb in the Cambridgeshire, is 33-1 with the sponsors.
