Prendergast insists Mustameet 'not disgraced'

Kevin Prendergast believes Mustameet is well worth another crack at Group One company after his gallant effort in the Baileys Irish Champion Stakes at the weekend.

The five-year-old finished four lengths behind Dylan Thomas at Leopardstown on what was his stiffest task to date.

“He wasn’t disgraced. He was up in class and that was probably the best performance of his career,” said Prendergast of the Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned entire.

“I don’t know where we’ll go next. His owner and his racing manager are in Keeneland for the sales at the moment so we’ll just have to wait for a few days and see what the score is.

“I presume that he will probably go to Dubai for the Carnival,” he told At The Races.

“He’s definitely worth another crack at Group One level. We were very pleased with him and he has come back from the race very well.”
