Guadalajara hot for Godolphin

Godolphin will be hoping Guadalajara can continue the stable’s recent run of fine form in tomorrow’s Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Park Hill Stakes at York.

The five-year-old, purchased from France at the end of last season, began her career for the boys in blue in the Ascot Gold Cup and was not disgraced in finishing only nine lengths behind Yeats.

She then won a conditions race at Newmarket before running a fine race in defeat in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury against the boys and a return to her own sex in this contest will be in her favour.

It will be a step back up in class and trip for the Group Two event over a mile and five furlongs, but Saeed bin Suroor is hoping she will settle better.

“Guadalajara ran well when second last time at Newbury, but she wasn’t really relaxed that day and needs to learn to settle better in her races,” he told www.godolphin.com.

“She’s been working well, is in good form and I’m very happy with her. We’re hoping for another good run at York and it would be nice to win a Group Two with her.”
