Heffernan handed Tusculum assignment

Seamus Heffernan will ride Tusculum in the Ladbrokes St Leger at York on Saturday.

Heffernan has partnered the progressive three-year-old on his last three starts, which yielded two victories.

The last of those underlined his Leger credentials after Aidan O’Brien’s Sadler’s Wells colt, a best-priced 7-1 for Classic glory, won a one-mile-six-furlong Listed event on good to firm ground at the Curragh.

“Tusculum rides with Seamus riding,” trainer O’Brien told the Racing Post.
