O'Brien to be honoured by HRI

Vincent O’Brien, Paddy Mullins and Dermot Weld are among 20 "racing heroes" to be honoured by Horse Racing Ireland on Ryder Cup race day at the Curragh on September 19.

The central theme of the celebration will be "winning the world over" and the ceremony will form two parts – Flat and National Hunt.

Flat recipients also include Aidan O’Brien, John Magnier and John Oxx while Tommy Carberry, Dessie Hughes and J P McManus are among the National Hunt personalities being honoured.

As a fitting conclusion, HRI have arranged a parade of champions after the last race featuring such equine heroes as Kicking King, Hardy Eustace, Brave Inca, Hedgehunter and Florida Pearl.
