No place like York for Topatoo

Topatoo has a fondness for the Knavesmire and continued her love affair with a comfortable success in the Motability Supported by Royal & SunAlliance Stakes on Ebor day at York.

Mark Tompkins’ filly won with plenty in hand under Michael Hills and has now scored on three of her six visits to the venue.

The 14-1 shot was anchored in the rear early doors but made steady headway down the straight and after being pulled wide for a run she powered home for a length and a quarter victory over Dunaskin.

Group Captain and Palomar filled the other placings for Roger Charlton.

“She is a lovely filly and she loves York,” said Tompkins. “I said to Michael to drop her in and then come down the outside and it has worked out perfectly.

“She is in the Cambridgeshire and she will probably go for that, although she is better racing round a bend.”
