Leading American jockey Garrett Gomez has been chosen by Aidan O'Brien to replace Kieren Fallon on board Ace in Saturday’s Arlington Million.

Leading American jockey Garrett Gomez has been chosen by Aidan O'Brien to replace Kieren Fallon on board Ace in Saturday’s Arlington Million.

O'Brien was forced in to the measure as Fallon was denied a licence by the Arlington stewards due to the current allegations hanging over him regarding race-fixing charges.

Fallon took the case to the courts in Chicago but his legal representatives failed in their bid to have an injunction granted against the decision of the Illinois Racing Board.

Fallon won last year’s race on board the O’Brien-trained Powerscourt.

Gomez is among the top rank of jockeys in America and has ridden over 130 winners this year earning over $10m (€7.8m) in prize money.

The ride on Ivan Denisovich in the Secretariat Stakes on the same card has gone to John Velazquez.
