Britain’s champion jump jockey is recovering after surgery at University College Hospital in Galway following his tumble from the ill-fated Sporting Limerick at the second-last flight in the williamhill.ie Handicap Hurdle on Wednesday.

“I understand he’s had the operation and it went fine. I hope to speak to him later,” said McCoy’s personal assistant Gee Bradburne.

McCoy missed the winning ride on Far From Trouble in the big race of the day, the William Hill Galway Plate, and he would have partnered leading fancy Kinger Rocks in today’s Guinness Galway Hurdle.
