Fahey targeting Dash glory
Richard Fahey is looking forward to mounting a two-pronged attack with in-form sprinters Knot In Wood and Wyatt Earp in tomorrow’s £50,000 Skybet Dash at York.
The former ran out a most impressive three-length winner at Haydock earlier this month, while the latter edged home in a similar race over course and distance on his most recent outing.
Paul Hanagan will ride Knot In Wood with Royston Ffrench set to partner Wyatt Earp, although Fahey stresses he is hard-pushed to favour one of his representatives over the other.
“Both horses are in great nick ahead of the race,” he confirmed.
“I can’t fault them as they both won last time out – they’re well and improving.
”I couldn’t split them to be honest. I don’t know how Paul came to the decision to ride Knot In Wood – it must have been very tough.
“I think he just went for the one with the lowest weight, but it’s not a decision I would have liked to have made.
“The ground is quite quick at York, and I’d love some rain in truth, but they’ve won on fast ground before.
“I’m hoping for a big run from both,” he added.
Among the opposition is Rae Guest’s Yomalo, who finished a close-up fourth in a course and distance Group Three last time, last season’s Great St Wilfrid hero Ice Planet and The Kiddykid.
The last-named won the 2005 renewal of the Duke Of York Stakes at the Knavesmire and came within a head of scoring in a valuable Windsor heat at the start of the month.
