Two Ripon jockeys fail breathalyser tests

Graham Gibbons and Gyles Parkin were prevented from riding today after failing breathalyser tests at Ripon.

The sampling officer reported to the stewards that both jockeys provided breath samples that were found to contain alcohol in a concentration above the permitted threshold level.

The stewards suspended Gibbons and Parkin from riding for the day and the matter has been referred to the Horseracing Regulatory Authority.

Gibbons had two booked mounts at Ripon and two at Haydock’s evening meeting while Parkin had to give up one ride at each.

The race was eventually won by 7-1 shot Dado Mush.
