James Given is hoping for a bold display from Everymanforhimself in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury on Saturday.

Joe Fanning takes the mount on the Fasliyev colt, who won twice at Beverley from three career starts before being beaten only five lengths despite being unplaced behind Hellvelyn in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

“He runs and we’ve booked Joe Fanning to ride him,” said the Gainsborough trainer. “He was perhaps a little bit quiet for a week or two after Ascot.

“You build them up to a peak for Ascot so we left him alone and let him trundle around but we’ve picked him up again and he seems very well in himself. It will be very interesting to see him run again.

“He ran well at Ascot. He was 12th but it was a Group Two and it’s a different type of a race on Saturday. We’re hopeful of a big run from him.

“They’ll be no quarter given over five furlongs at Newbury. They go like grease lightning in that race and we’re looking forward to it.”
