Juvenile options for Hannon
Richard Hannon has made tentative plans for his expansive team of speedy juveniles for the Royal Ascot meeting.
The likes of Gilded, Sonny Red and Major Cadeaux have produced some of the most impressive performances by any two-year-old seen out this season and they are all trained by Hannon at his East Everleigh base in Wiltshire.
Hannon is famed for his handling of speedy types and this year more than ever he looks to have a strong hand for the juvenile races with the Royal meeting now only a week away.
Gilded has won four from five, Sonny Red already has a Listed race to his name, while Major Cadeaux won one of the most eagerly anticipated maidens of the year at Newbury.
“We’ve got Gilded in the Queen Mary and probably Dazed and Amazed in the Windsor Castle,” said Hannon.
“I don’t quite know where we are going to go with Sonny Red yet, whether it will be the Norfolk or the Coventry but obviously I would like to split them.
“I’ll have to speak to the owners and see what they want to do before we decide,” he told At The Races.
“We’ve also got Major Cadeaux who worked very well the other day and he goes for the Coventry, so I think I’d quite like to keep Sonny Red to five furlongs in the Norfolk.”
