Dancer connections consider Ascot bid
Dragon Dancer, runner-up in the Vodafone Derby, could bypass a tilt at the Irish equivalent in favour of a run at Royal Ascot.
The Geoff Wragg-trained colt is still a maiden after going down by a short head to Sir Percy in the Epsom Classic and connections are considering supplementing him for the Budweiser-sponsored event at the Curragh.
However, Wragg wants to avoid firm ground with the son of Sadler’s Wells and the King Edward VII Stakes at Ascot is also under consideration.
Wragg told the Racing Post: “We haven’t finalised our plans for him and we will make the decision whether to supplement him into the Irish Derby at the end of the week, when the race closes.
“If Dragon Dancer is to run anywhere, he wouldn’t want the ground to be too firm so we’ll have to see what the weather does.”
