Martin Dwyer is confident Vodafone Derby hero Sir Percy will handle the different demands of the Coral-Eclipse Stakes if he heads to Sandown for his next start.

Marcus Tregoning is strongly considering the 10-furlong all-aged Group One contest as the next port of call for his stable star, with the Budweiser Irish Derby the other option.

“He’s a very versatile horse. He was second in the Guineas – take the winner out (George Washington) and he would have been a good winner,” Dwyer told Channel 4 Racing.

“A mile and a quarter will be no problem, he has got a really good turn of foot. If he goes for the Eclipse, it will be right up his street.

“I could have sat a lot further forward in the Derby, but I was just afraid he would run too keen.”
