Impressionnante led close home to land the Group Two Prix de Sandringham at Chantilly in the hands of Olivier Peslier.

The 11-8 joint-favourite pulled hard in the early stages of the mile contest but Peslier got her settled against the rail before sending her to the front in the closing stages.

Carlos Laffon-Parais’ charge stayed on best of all to beat the John Dunlop-trained Mostaqeleh, with New Girlfriend in third.

Andre Fabre’s Phantom Rose, the other market leader, led for most of the way but failed to maintain her unbeaten record and dropped right out of it on the run to the line.
