Best mulls Cross options

John Best has nominated the American Oaks or a Group race in Germany as possible targets for his Vodafone Oaks runner-up Rising Cross.

The Cape Cross filly ran the race of her life at Epsom on Friday and despite stumbling in the closing stages she still came home a clear second behind the brilliant winner Alexandrova.

Best said: “She has come out of the race fine and I am a bit surprised as I thought she might have been a bit funny having stumbled like she did but she seems perfect.

“I am not sure where we are going to go now but I think we are going to get an invitation for the American Oaks at Hollywood Park on July 2nd and there is a race at Hamburg at the end of June too.

“Apart from that she may well be sold – I am not sure what is going to happen. She hasn’t been sold yet but we have had an offer and several other phone calls, although we haven’t agreed to anything yet.”
