Brennan out for a month

Paddy Brennan will be out of action for at least a month after breaking his pelvis in a fall at Stratford on Friday.

The former champion conditional jockey spent a night in Coventry Hospital after parting company with the Kevin Bishop-trained Gumley Gale in the Pertemps Handicap Chase.

“Immediately after the fall I thought my injury might be a lot worse than a cracked pelvis, and I’m fortunate to get off so lightly and spend just one night in hospital. I’m advised I should be fit to ride again in around a month or so,” Brennan told the Racing Post.

“The medical staff at Stratford were first class with their immediate treatment, and I’d like to pass on my thanks to them and also to the doctors and nurses at Coventry Hospital, who were brilliant. I’m very grateful to everyone involved for their care.”
