Minister for sport John O'Donoghue is considering proposals for the establishment of a new body to oversee horseracing in Ireland.

Minister for sport John O'Donoghue is considering proposals for the establishment of a new body to oversee horseracing in Ireland.

The proposals have been drawn up by a special group appointed by the minister last year to recommend the best way of setting up a new governing body.

Mr O'Donoghue says the new organisation will strengthen the horseracing sector in Ireland and he is confident it will receive the backing of the Irish Horse Board and other representative groups.
