Germance set for Longchamp test
Germance bids to book her place in the French Oaks by maintaining her unbeaten record in the Montjeu Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary on Sunday.
The filly, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, has won all her three starts to date and goes for a four-timer in the ā¬250,000 Group One over 10 furlongs at Longchamp.
Rouget said: āGermance goes to Longchamp for the Prix Saint-Alary. She worked very well yesterday morning and is in good form.
āWe hope she can win this Group One race and, if she runs well then the plan, is to go to the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) at Chantilly.
āWe will see how she is after that and if she is well we will look at mile and a half races later in the season. She is out of a Caerleon mare and has the pedigree to stay further.ā
Rouget was delighted with Germanceās latest success in a Group Three contest at Saint-Cloud last month.
āI was very happy with Germanceās performance at Saint-Cloud. The going was good to soft that day but I think she goes on any ground,ā he added.
Fourteen fillies remain in the Prix Saint-Alary, including the John Gosden-trained Innocent Air.
