Speciosa in top trim

Pam Sly reported Shadwell Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Speciosa to be in grand order following her heroics at Newmarket yesterday.

The talented three-year-old did her Stan James 1000 Guineas prospects no harm with a gallant, if wayward, one-length success from Spinning Queen in the Group Three event.

“She looks absolutely fine this morning and seems to have taken the race really well,” revealed Sly.

“I was just so concerned she wasn’t fit enough but I suppose I want to have her fully fit in a couple of weeks (for the 1000 Guineas) rather than now.

“We now have a realistic dream and we can look forward to the race with a great deal of confidence.”

Speciosa, who also landed the Group Two Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket last season, is a general 16-1 chance to win the 1000 Guineas on May 7.
