Rainbow given Oaks trial date

Peter Chapple-Hyam is aiming last season’s Zetland Stakes winner Under The Rainbow at the Lingfield Oaks Trial on May 13.

The Bill Gredley-owned Fantastic Light filly, who is a 40-1 shot for the Vodafone Oaks, displayed her well-being on Tuesday morning with a spin on the Newmarket gallops under jockey Alan Munro.

“Under The Rainbow is coming along well and I’m very pleased with her,” the trainer told www.peterchapplehyam.com.

“During the winter she went back to her owner’s stud and did well for being there. She came back to us in early February and began fast work two or three weeks ago.

“Since her win at Newmarket last October, the plan has always been to go for the Lingfield Oaks Trial.

“So that will be her starting point for the season and the race is likely to tell us if we’re good enough to then go for the Oaks – but I believe she is a Group filly.”
