Hexham off

Officials at Hexham have abandoned Sunday’s National Hunt card after the track was found to be waterlogged.

An inspection was initially called for 10am on Saturday but that was brought forward to 4pm on Friday.

However, conditions are so bad at the Northumberland track that the meeting has been called off earlier than expected.

“We had to bring the inspection forward again as it is still raining and there is no prospect of it drying out,” said a course spokesman.

“With the adverse weather and the rainfall it seemed the sensible thing to do.”
