Gifford runs out of time with Bey

Joly Bey will miss the John Smith’s Grand National after failing to recover from an injury setback.

Trainer Nick Gifford had been facing a race against time to get the nine-year-old ready for the Aintree feature after he suffered a setback but he has now had to concede defeat.

A stable spokeswoman said: “Joly Bey is a definite non-runner in the National as he has not recovered from a muscle problem.”
