Punchestown Festival worth €43m to local economy

The Punchestown Racing Festival contributes around €43m to the local economy, according to a report compiled by NUI Maynooth.

The report, based on a study of last year's festival, says €7.6m was spent at the racecourse during the four-day event.

A further €17.8m was spent on accommodation, food and entertainment and €7.5m on travel and subsistence.

On top of this, the researchers at NUI Maynooth estimate that the local economy benefited to the tune of around €10m through indirect effects.
