Towcester 'all systems go'
This afternoon’s meeting at Towcester has been given the all-clear without the need for a precautionary morning inspection.
Clerk of the course Robert Bellamy, who had intended to inspect at 8am, delivered the good news after overnight temperatures only dipped to just below freezing.
“There was a prediction of minus-three degrees but that did not materialise,” explained Long.
“It was plus one or two degrees at 6.30am this morning, and the sun was shining, so we are all systems go for racing.”
The going for the six-race card, which begins at 2.20pm, is currently good, good to soft in places.
