Chepstow have called a precautionary 7.30am inspection ahead of tomorrow’s meeting.

The track is raceable at present but the British Met Office informed officials at the Monmouthshire venue that overnight temperatures could drop below freezing.

However, clerk of the course Tim Long is still optimistic that the meeting, which begins at 2.10pm, will go ahead as scheduled.

He said: “We currently have quite a lot of cloud cover but that is supposed to clear in the night and it will be cold for the duration.

“There is a possibility that it could get as low as minus three.

“However, we are also forecast a maximum temperature of plus seven dgrees when the sun rises so hopefully the ground frost will clear in time.

“We are still very optimistic of racing and it is purely precautionary.”
