Murphy 'sore and bruised'

Timmy Murphy is hoping to make a swift return to action after missing his intended ride aboard Control Man at Uttoxeter.

Murphy was due to ride for boss Martin Pipe in the feature John Smith’s Midlands Grand National but bypassed the meeting after taking a heavy fall from Celestial Gold in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

“He’s not riding today and he isn’t riding tomorrow either,” said Murphy’s agent Chris Broad.

“He’s just very sore and bruised and didn’t feel up to race-riding today.

“We will see how he is for Monday.”
