Sandown goes ahead

This afternoon’s meeting at Sandown will go ahead after an overnight frost failed to materialise.

It had been thought the meeting could have been in some doubt but a low of plus two degrees means that the Racing Post Chase meeting will go ahead after a planned inspection was cancelled.

And the overnight conditions have surprisingly helped the course dry out slightly according to clerk of the course Andrew Cooper.

“Temperatures never dropped below plus two and even though it is quite windy now I think that is helping the course dry out a little.

“The hurdles course is soft and heavy in places while the chase course is soft and good to soft in places,” said Cooper.

The card also features the Grade Two Pendil Novices’ Chase.
