Jockey Ruby Walsh is set to be out of action for up to a month after X-rays showed he has aggravated the injury he received at Cheltenham nearly four weeks ago.

Walsh was hurt when the Frances Crowley-trained Riverboatman fell at the second-last in the ‘Ashkalani’ at Coolamurry Stud Carey’s Cottage Cup Handicap at Gowran Park on Thursday.

The in-form rider missed the first two weeks of January after a double spill at Prestbury Park on New Year’s Day.

“He has aggravated the injury he sustained at Cheltenham,” said his sister and agent Jennifer Walsh.

“He will be out of action for up to a month and during that time he will need physiotherapy consistently.”
