Nicky Richards is weighing up the options for Monet’s Garden after his exciting novice chaser was denied a run when Wednesday’s meeting at Huntingdon was abandoned.

The Greystoke trainer is keen to get a race into the grey before the Cheltenham Festival, at which he holds entries in the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy and the Royal & SunAlliance Chase.

“We’re not quite sure where he goes yet; I’ll know a bit more tomorrow, hopefully,” said Richards.

“The horse is great, there’s nothing wrong with him and we are just wanting to get a run into him.

“We are just weighing one or two things, just working out the right thing to do with him.”

Monet’s Garden has won his only race over fences when beating subsequent Feltham Chase victor Darkness over two miles at Ayr in November.
