Plumpton call afternoon check
Thursday’s meeting at Plumpton is subject to a precautionary 3pm inspection this afternoon.
The course has had to endure temperatures of around minus five over the previous two nights and it has been taking until mid-afternoon for the frost to thaw.
Clerk of the course Mark Cornford said: “At the minute we are struggling to reach two degrees so I’ve asked the head steward to come and have a look with me at 3pm and see what the situation is.
“We are predicted a rise to around three or four degrees and hopefully that would enable us to race.
“It all depends what happens tonight. It might only get as low as zero and if that is the case we have a good chance.
“I would say we are hopeful but not confident.”
