McEvoy back on Friday
Kerrin McEvoy is set to return to action in Australia on Friday after being sidelined since suffering a bad fall from Queen Of The Hill at Flemington in November.
Godolphin’s number two rider required surgery after sustaining a deep wound to his forehead as well as further injuries above his eye and in his mouth.
He told At The Races: “I have been riding work for five or six days and I’m going to ride on Friday night and on Saturday as well. I’m looking forward to getting back into it.
“I don’t look too bad. The surgeons did a good job of it. I’ve got a scar on my forehead but it’s a nice, neat one and it will only get better with time.
“In a way I’m quite lucky I didn’t break anything so I’m back fit now and ready to go.”
After riding at the weekend, the Australian is due to jet to Dubai to help with Godolphin’s preparations for the coming Flat season and ride at the Carnival meeting, which kicks off on January 19.
McEvoy added: “I’m booked to fly out from Australia on Monday so I will arrive in Dubai on Tuesday and ride a bit of work.
“The first meeting I will be riding at is on the 19th. I’m told that Frankie (Dettori) might not be out there for the first few meetings so there might be one or two rides for me.”
