Flyer beaten at Leopardstown
Moscow Flyer was beaten in a dramatic finish to the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown.
Jessica Harrington’s dual Queen Mother Champion Chase winner tried hard, but was under pressure three fences from home and could never really get in a serious blow.
The Grade One race went to Michael Hourigan’s Hi Cloy (8-1), who beat Fota Island by three-quarters of a length, but he looked a most fortunate winner as Central House was powering to success before his jockey Roger Loughran mistook the winning post and eased his mount up.
Central House set out to make all but had Moscow Flyer in close attendance, with the pair separated by just half a length over the third-last.
However, Barry Geraghty’s mount did not quicken on the run to two out and the 11-year-old could only finish fourth of the five runners.
The Dessie Hughes-trained Central House jumped the final two fences clear and it was halfway up the run-in that Loughran thought he has passed the winning post and stood up in the irons and punched the air.
He was still celebrating as Hi Cloy stayed on strongly from the back of the field under Andrew McNamara to grab the spoils.
