Trainer Nicky Henderson is happy with Crozan ahead of the Stan James Feltham Novices’ Chase at Sandown on Boxing Day.

The talented five-year-old is the sponsors’ 13-8 favourite to win the extended three-mile contest, which attracted nine other entries on Tuesday.

Crozan, who was formerly in the care of Thomas Trapenard in France, made a successful debut for Henderson when he powered to a seven-length success under Marcus Foley at Cheltenham last month.

Henderson is now keeping his fingers crossed things go to plan at the Esher track after Mick Fitzgerald, who is poised to replace Foley at the helm, enjoyed a pleasing spin aboard the gelding earlier in the week.

“Things are good and I’m happy with Crozan,” said the Seven Barrows handler.

“He did some work this week, which went very well.

“Mick was has happy when he rode him this week so we’ll just have to see - he’s got plenty of speed and stays so we are hopeful.”
