Bowen in jockey search
Trainer Peter Bowen is on the lookout for a jockey for Ballycassidy in the Stan James King George VI Chase at Sandown on Boxing Day.
Richard Johnson usually partners the nine-year-old but he is likely to be claimed by Philip Hobbs for Monkerhostin in the £200,000 (€295,000) showpiece.
“The horse is fine but we haven’t got a jockey yet, Christian Williams maybe,” said the Haverfordwest-based handler.
Ballycassidy was also in the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow the following day but Bowen favours taking on the likes of Kicking King and Kingscliff instead.
The Insan gelding, currently the 100-1 complete outsider for King George honours, was fifth to another Sandown entry Royal Auclair at Cheltenham on his latest start.
Bowen is set for a busy Boxing Day as he runs Take The Stand in the skybet.com Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby.
“He goes to Wetherby but we haven’t got a jockey for him either yet,” added Bowen.
