Staying aim for Stars

Paul Keane will be scouring the programme book in search of marathon handicap chases for All In The Stars after his fine effort in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup.

The seven-year-old was a creditable fifth to Trabolgan in the Newbury feature after being well supported at long odds down to 14-1.

“I was delighted with his run and if he had jumped a little better he might have even made the frame,” said the Dorset trainer.

“He was racing off his old handicap mark of 122 having been raised to 131 after winning first time out at Fontwell, so he will have more to do next time.

“He really wants further than three-and-a-quarter miles and Noel (Fehily) said he might just be a Scottish National horse.

“I will certainly be looking out for something over four miles for him next time.”
