Doncaster success a Beaumont boost
Peter Beaumont received a welcome tonic when Cloudless Dawn ran away with the opening race on Yorkshire Post day at Doncaster.
The Brandsby-based trainer has only recently returned home after almost a month in hospital where he underwent a bypass operation and he will have been cheered by the 12-1 shot’s win in the Country Week Mares’ Only Novices’ Hurdle.
Cloudless Dawn did it in style, trouncing her rivals by upwards of 10 lengths after leading four out in the hands of Russ Garritty.
“He came out of hospital on Thursday and that’s the best boost he could get,” said the trainer’s son, Stuart.
“That’s our first winner for a while, things have been a bit lean. They have been running alright, they’re fit but they haven’t managed to get in front until now.
“This is a good strong mare. She stays and she’ll make a chaser.”
