The Bridgwater trainer has been forced to find a replacement for his star as the gelding’s regular partner Paddy Brennan is expected to be out of action for six weeks after damaging his leg in a fall last Thursday.

“We won’t decide until early in the week. I’ve not had chance to speak to Mrs Ellis (the owner) yet,” said Bishop.

“He had his last serious piece of work on Friday and it went fine. And thankfully the snow’s all gone.”

Ashley Brook, conqueror of War Of Attrition in a Grade One novice chase at Aintree in April, made a satisfactory reappearance in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter three weeks ago when finishing third to Monkerhostin.
