Breeze set for rehearsal plan
Lenny Lungo is keen for Brooklyn Breeze to tackle three miles for the first time over fences in the Pagebet Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle on Saturday.
Already a winner over the trip when winning a hurdle race at Perth in 2003, the eight-year-old has a history of breathing problems which have often taken their toll during his races.
However, an operation over the summer seems to have resolved that problem with Brooklyn Breeze bouncing back to form with a gritty success at Aintree last month.
“He is really fresh and well and is entered for the Rehearsal Chase which is three miles but it is on a flat track,” Lungo told Racing UK.
Despite finishing just 12th in the Paddy Power Gold Cup two weeks ago, Lungo reports there to be no recurrence of his charge’s difficulties.
“Tony (Dobbin) was telling me after Cheltenham there was no problem with his wind, which was the worry,” he continued.
“The operation we did over the summer seems to have worked and without the breathing problems I am happy to try three miles.”
