This afternoon’s meeting at Lingfield has been abandoned after the Surrey course failed a 7.30am inspection.

Although the track passed a precautionary inspection on Tuesday morning, overnight temperatures of minus-four degrees meant the seven-race card could not go ahead due to frost.

“It was looking promising yesterday but the cold snap meant the frost returned so racing cannot go ahead,” said Lingfield’s Geoff Stickels.

“It was pointless calling any more inspections so we had to grab the bull by the horns and act quickly.”
