Aintree given the all-clear
Aintree passed a final inspection at 12pm and will take place as scheduled.
Although overnight temperatures fell below minus two degrees and parts of the course were still frozen earlier in the morning, the six-race card, featuring the totesport Becher Handicap Chase, will go as planned at 1.05pm.
Clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch expressed his delight at the news after calling two earlier inspections at 8am and 10.30am.
“It’s taken longer than planned to make a decision but we are very happy,” he said.
“The sun has helped the course immensely and we can look forward to a good day.”
The going is currently good to soft.
