Aintree look again

Aintree will hold a further inspection at 10.30am to assess the prospects of racing this afternoon.

Aintree will hold a further inspection at 10.30am to assess the prospects of racing this afternoon.

Predicted overnight temperatures of below minus-two degrees prompted clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch to call a precautionary inspection at 8am.

However, Tulloch needs to look again later in the morning before giving the go-ahead for racing.

“Because the sun has yet to appear this morning we have been left with no other choice other than call another inspection,” said Tulloch.

“We can do no more other than sit tight and hope for the best.”

The going is currently good to soft for the six-race card, which begins at 1.05pm and features the totesport Becher Handicap Chase.
