Plumpton call precautionary inspection
Tomorrow’s meeting at Plumpton is the latest to come under threat from the current cold snap with officials at the track calling a precautionary inspection for 8.30am.
Temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing overnight, forcing clerk of the course Mark Cornford to check on conditions ahead of the seven-race card, which is due to get underway at 12.25.
“I have called a precautionary inspecion but we could have raced today,” said Cornford. “We got down to minus three last night and it was clear by midday.
“Should the temperatures tonight drop to something silly like minus six then we might be in trouble but the weathermen are telling me we should only get down to minus three.
“If it is another fine day and warm in the sunshine then I would hopefully say there won’t be a problem, but that is being very bullish at this stage.”
