Rooster Booster may undergo some tests this week following his disappointing showing in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday.

The 2003 Champion Hurdle winner looked to have very chance until he weakened after jumping the third flight from home.

He eventually trailed in 14th of the 19 runners, around 36 lengths behind the winner Lingo.

“He seems to be fine,” trainer Philip Hobbs said.

“Obviously it was below-par and was disappointing. We’ll see how he is during the week and probably have some tests done and see where we go from there.

“He’s come down a lot in the last 12 months anyway but at the same time the handicapper does (need to relent a bit).

“We’ll just have to see how we go but we’ve got no plans at the moment.”
