Haydock beckons for Faasel

Faasel is on course to make his seasonal reappearance at Haydock in two weeks’ time.

The Nicky Richards-trained gelding is set to begin his second campaign over jumps in the £25,000-added Casino 36 Classic Hurdle Race on Betfair Lancashire Chase day, November 19.

“He will go for a four-year-old limited handicap down there,” said the Greystoke trainer.

“He is in great fettle but he may need his first run, and then we will more or less be forced to go for the Bula Hurdle at Cheltenham.”

The four-year-old was a leading juvenile novice hurdler last term, winning his first four starts before going down by only a head to Penzance in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.

He then signed off in style with a seven-length victory in the Grade One John Smith’s Anniversary Hurdle at Aintree.
