Stratford abandoned due to waterlogging

Monday’s meeting at Stratford has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

The six-race card had been subject to a 7am inspection on Monday morning as two millimetres of overnight rain led to ground officially described as heavy.

However, six millimetres of excessive rainfall this morning led to officials of the course making the decision to call off the meeting.

“We were going to wait but the morning rain has stuffed us,” said Stratford clerk of the course Stephen Lambert.

“The going is now heavy with waterlogging in places.

“There are two or three patches which are really bad and would not be safe for racing.”
