Breeders’ Cup Classic favourite Saint Liam had his final serious piece of work before Saturday’s showpiece when breezing over five furlongs at Aqueduct.

The Rick Dutrow Jr-trained five-year-old has won eight of his 19 starts - including three in Grade One company – and is the 5-2 market leader for the Classic.

“He did it effortlessly,” Dutrow told www.thoroughbredtimes.com of the workout.

The handler was not looking for much from the son of Saint Ballado, and added: “We didn’t need any pressure. If I wanted him to breeze really good, I would’ve breezed him in company – I don’t think we need that.”
