Booster back at Huntingdon
Rooster Booster is on course to begin his seventh winter campaign over hurdles at Huntingdon on Saturday.
The 11-year-old, winner of the 2003 Champion Hurdle, may no longer cut it with the best but he convinced connections to keep him in training when winning at Sandown in April and then finishing a fine fourth under top weight behind Coat of Honour at Haydock.
The popular grey gelding, trained by Philip Hobbs, will make his first ever appearance at the Cambridgeshire track in the Play Blackjack At Williamhillcasino.com Hurdle over an extended two miles.
“He runs at Huntingdon on Saturday and Richard Johnson rides him as usual,” said owner Terry Warner.
“I saw Richard at Uttoxeter yesterday and he told me he’d been down to Philip’s yard to ride Rooster Booster in a piece of work and he said he went well.
“We’ll just see how he does on Saturday before we look any further ahead.
“He’s still keen, that’s the trouble with him sometimes, but he’s very well if a little fat.”
