Primary aiming for Dewhurst first
David Loder hopes Primary can give him a fitting send-off as a trainer by landing Saturday’s Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.
Frankie Dettori has been booked to partner the unbeaten juvenile, who had both his career outings in a short space of time a few weeks ago.
He opened his account with an easy win at Leicester before narrowly outpointing Alhaitham at the July course and will seek to give his handler a final Group One success before he retires at the end of the season.
“It’s an emotional booking having Frankie on board,” Loder told The Times. “As he rode my first winner, it would be nice if he could ride my last.
“Primary is a Giant’s Causeway through and through. He is a tough, solid horse, although he will be better next year. But he has done nothing wrong and deserves to take his chance.”
