Causeway on course for Chariot

Maids Causeway enjoyed a nice racecourse work-out at Newmarket where she was making her first public appearance since winning the Coronation Stakes from which she returned injured.

The three-year-old daughter of Giant’s Causeway ripped off a shoe during the Royal contest and damaged muscles in her hip.

But ridden by Michael Hills, she looked well down the comeback trail as she moved smoothly in company with last year’s Chesham Stakes winner Whazzat in a seven-furlong spin to please her trainer Barry Hills.

He said: “It was always going to be a piece of work not a trial. But she’s back and she’s up to speed. I couldn’t be more pleased with her.

“All being well, she’ll run in the Sun Chariot (October 1) and then she’ll probably run in the Champion (October 15).”
